A number of encoding examples have been produced in grid form to demonstrate the varying settings available in a typical encoding package.
If you would like to experiment with any of the grid settings we have detailed, the Advisory Service has supplied a high resolution file for you to download on the grid pages (see the links above).
For the digitisation of associated material we refer all enquiries to TASI: a JISC service specifically created to advise on all issues relating to the digitisation of stills and documents both for archival purposes and for use online. TASI can also provide information on metadata standards and advise on issues relating to JISC-compliant standards.
If you would like further information on national standards for moving images and sound online you may refer to the DNER web site. This web site provides specific information relating to the activities of the JISC and related projects.
These Technology notes were originated by the British Universities Film and Video Council and last updated in 2005 (© BUFVC 2005).
