Film & Sound Online Case Studies Terms of Use

This case study is for Educational Purposes only. "Educational Purposes" is defined as: the use of the whole or parts of the Licensed Work for the purpose of education, teaching, distance learning, private study or research.

For Educational Purposes, the following acts are permitted. You may:

  • access the Licensed Work in order to search, retrieve, display and download, and otherwise use any part or parts thereof;
  • electronically save the whole or any part or parts of the Licensed Work;
  • print out single copies of the whole or any part or parts of the Licensed Work;
  • make Adaptations of any parts of the Licensed Work. "Adaptations" is defined as: any adaptation, alteration, addition to, deletion from, manipulation, or modification of parts of the Licensed Work. Each item shall carry appropriate acknowledgement;
  • incorporate the whole or any part or parts of the Licensed Work in printed or electronic course and study packs or multi-media works for the use in the course of instruction. Each item shall carry appropriate acknowledgement of the source, title and copyright owner. Course packs in non-electronic non-print perceptible form, such as Braille, may also be compiled;
  • incorporate the whole or any part or parts of the Licensed Work and Adaptations in printed or electronic form in assignments, portfolios (including non-public display thereof) and in dissertations, including reproductions of the dissertation for personal use and library deposit. "Adaptations" is defined as: any adaptation, alteration, addition to, deletion from, manipulation, or modification of parts of the Licensed Work. Each item shall carry appropriate acknowledgement;
  • display, download, print any part or parts of the Licensed Work for the purpose of promotion of the Licensed Work;
  • publicly perform any part or parts of the Licensed Work as part of a professional presentation at a seminar, conference, or workshop, or other such similar professional activity.

You are not entitled to sub-license any of the above rights to any third party.

The following acts are not permitted. You may not:

  • remove, obscure or modify copyright notices, acknowledgements or other means of identification or disclaimers in the Licensed Work without prior written consent of the copyright owner;
  • use all or any part of the Licensed Work for any Commercial Use without the consent of the copyright owner.

"Commercial Use" is defined as "the use of whole or parts of the Licensed Work with the specific aim of generating a profit".

All warranties, whether express or implied relating to the Licensed Works are hereby expressly excluded by the University to the fullest extent permitted by law.

While the University shall use all reasonable endeavours to ensure that viruses are not unwittingly created, introduced or transmitted via FSOL and/or the Licensed Works, the University shall hold no liability for any viruses transmitted to you via the FSOL and/or the Licensed Works.

While the University shall use all reasonable care and diligence in making the FSOL and the Licensed Works available, the University provides no warranty regarding the accuracy of the FSOL and the Licensed Works, the availability of the FSOL and the Licensed Works, the relevance of the FSOL and the Licensed Works, or their fitness for any particular purpose and shall have no liability in respect of the same.

The University shall not be responsible or liable for the use made by you of any Licensed Works, including but not limited to errors or omissions contained therein and including any use relating to issues of defamation, privacy, trade mark rights, moral rights or the disclosure of confidential information.
